Inspirational stories of caregiving in various communities
Caregiving “is not something you think about — it just happens,” says Richard Lui, an NBC/MSNBC anchor, advising others to be more prepared. He flies weekly from New York City to San Francisco to take care of his father, Stephen Liu, 82, who has dementia. The Lius’ and two other Chinese-American families’ caregiving stories are featured in the new AARP short documentary, Caregiving: The Circle of Love, which depicts how caring for their elders is a cultural expectation.
“The film is meant to serve as a catalyst to start caregiving conversations in our communities,” says Daphne Kwok, AARP Vice President for Multicultural Markets.
