Kia America recalled some 460,000 vehicles because they may catch fire while parked or driving, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Certain 2020 to 2024 Telluride SUVs are affected. The automaker advised owners to park their vehicles outside, away from other cars and structures, until the recall repair is completed.
“The front power seat motor on the affected vehicles could overheat because of a stuck power seat slide knob, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury,” said the announcement.
Dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs free of charge.
Owners can expect to be notified of the recall by mail beginning July 30 and may contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia’s number for the recall is SC316.
To find out if a specific vehicle is recalled, Kia owners can visit NHTSA.gov/recalls or call the Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 and provide their license plate number or 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN).
In April, Kia recalled over 427,000 Telluride SUVs because they could roll away while parked.
