Landing a job and managing a career can be tricky at any age, but older workers face higher stakes. The need to balance retirement goals and caregiving responsibilities while also dealing with age discrimination can suddenly make a job search—something they’ve done many times before—much harder.
To help older workers find jobs and build careers that let them work as long as they need or want, AARP and Indeed are collaborating to offer experienced workers a suite of resources and tools to jump-start their job search and stay competitive in the job market.
“This collaboration will help older job seekers confidently navigate today's job market by providing valuable tools and resources such as interview prep and résumé assistance," says Carly Roszkowski, vice president of Financial Resilience Programming, AARP. "With the number of older workers projected to grow significantly over the next decade, understanding their needs and concerns benefits both workers and employers."
Along with career advice from AARP specifically for older workers, there are helpful offerings for everyone and discounts on Indeed paid services for AARP members and nonmembers who have registered at aarp.org. Those resources include:
Job board. You can start your search on the Indeed job board. According to an April 2025 survey from AARP Research, 22 percent of job seekers age 50 and older said they need help finding job opportunities. With millions of jobs on its website, Indeed is one of the largest online job boards platforms. But, for many experienced workers, finding an employer that’s the right fit is just as important as landing a new job. That fit can include an “age-friendly” environment that provides opportunities and supports the well-being of workers of all ages.
According to a March 2025 AARP Research survey, nearly half of older workers said they worry that discussing mental health concerns at work could hurt their career (48 percent) or lead to judgment from colleagues (52 percent).
