6 New Adults-Only Resorts

Looking for a kid-free escape? These six new properties offer sophisticated suites, indulgent spa amenities and gourmet meals for travelers age 21 and up. Prices vary depending on the property and the season, but expect a nightly range from $341 at the Key West Ridley House in Florida to $1,800 at Ambiente in Sedona, Arizona.

Ambiente A Landscape Hotel

Check into Sedona’s first adults-only resort, Ambiente, a Landscape Hotel, to be smack in the middle of the area’s landmark red rock buttes. Take in the view of the dramatic natural tableau, which includes the surrounding Coconino National Forest, via 180-degree, floor-to-ceiling windows in each of the 40 glass-and-steel cube-shaped rooms, or “atriums.” What’s more, almost all of them will feature private rooftop decks with firepits and day beds for stargazing in this certified Dark Sky Community. (Two rooms are accessible, with wraparound patios instead of rooftop decks.) The resort is scheduled to open in February, and the rooms will also boast wine dispensers serving Arizona wines and local custom brews in the minifridges. Decompress with yoga, spa treatments, dips in the pool (try the in-pool sun loungers), and culinary and drink demonstrations.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, Mexico

Also expanding the adults-only options in the Riviera Maya is the 291-suite Hyatt Zilara, which opened in December 2022. The all-inclusive beachfront resort features an extensive menu of adult-oriented activities: Soak in the hot tub adjacent to the ocean-view pool. Savor nine globally inspired restaurants, bars and lounges (tequila and mezcal cocktails, anyone?). Jump into aqua aerobics, cooking lessons, yoga sessions and wine tastings. Create your own personalized fragrance or body lotion. Traveling with your love? Let the romance concierge plan a moonlit dinner under the stars or a couples massage on the beach. Retire each night to a spacious suite with spa-like bathrooms and furnished balconies, some with personal butlers.

Kimpton Key West Ridley House, Florida

Kimpton Key West Ridley House

In December 2022, the Kimpton chain opened its first adults-only property, the Kimpton Key West Ridley House. This 23-room boutique hotel, built as a private estate for a 19th-century industrialist, encompasses three historic Victorian or Bahamian-style homes. The romantic property is ideally located in the Old Town area within walking distance of Key West restaurants, nightlife and the historic seaport (don’t miss those famous Key West sunsets).

Distinctly adult experiences include full-moon tarot card readings; poolside spirit tastings, alcohol-laced ice pops and blackjack games; and boozy welcome drinks. The hotel features accessible rooms and room adjustments for the visually or hearing impaired.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya, Mexico

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya

The first adults-only property in the Margaritaville chain is the Margaritaville Island Reserve, which is scheduled to open in April. The all-inclusive, 355-suite resort will debut several adult-friendly features: the first-ever beachfront LandShark Brewery & Grill, serving lagers, smokehouse classics and live music; nine food and beverage options, including the Far Side of the World restaurant and the agave-inspired mixology bar, Salted Rim; and a 10,000-square-foot spa with a couples suite and cutting-edge fitness center. Grownup fun includes weekly trop rock musical performances, pop-up pickleball contests and pool parties with live bands. Suites at this oceanfront retreat — some with private infinity pools — offer views of the shimmering Caribbean, pools and gardens thanks to its crescent moon shape.

Sandals Dunn’s River, Ocho Rios, Jamaica

This former Sandals resort has returned to the brand as a completely reinvented property in the popular Ocho Rios area on Jamaica’s north coast. But it still boasts a romantic ambience thanks to its idyllic location on a premier beach. The property is on track to open in May and will debut Jamaica’s first SkyPool Suites and Coyaba Sky Rondoval Villas, both with private pools, butlers and soaking tubs for two.

In addition, you can expect 12 global gourmet restaurants (10 of which are new to the brand), complimentary green fees to a scenic 18-hole course, two river pools, and daily entertainment and live shows. Enjoy a cocktail at the signature swim-up bar and a beach bar with lounging beds. Unlimited premium liquor is stocked in every room.

Sandals Royal Curaçao

A longtime leader in adults-only Caribbean vacations, Sandals opened its first property in Curaçao in June 2022. This all-inclusive couples-only resort sprawls on 44 oceanfront acres. But Sandals delivers unique features here: Lounge at the Dos Awa Infinity Pool, which seems to disappear into the ocean on two levels. Check into new room categories such as the Awa Seaside bungalows (with private pools) and the Kurason Island Suites (overlooking an exclusive heart-shaped pool). Or zip around the island in a complimentary convertible Mini Cooper.

Standard Sandals amenities are also on tap: Order your favorite cocktail at the swim-up bar or sample the many water sports, all included in the rate. There are also three new food trucks. In the evening, tuck into a romantic dinner at one of eight restaurants, and end the day with world-class entertainment and live music. The resort has seven accessible rooms and three wheelchairs available on request.
