Visit These Statues of Fictional Characters
Honoring the stars of the screen in the real world
Some characters are so iconic that they have escaped the screen to make their presence felt in real communities. Often, that community is the same place that served as the setting for the movie or TV show. Here are some locations where fictional characters have earned an honor usually reserved for war heroes, statesmen and sports stars: They got statues.
Ralph Kramden, New York City

The Girl, Palm Springs, California
At 26 feet tall, Marilyn Monroe’s unnamed character from The Seven Year Itch stands in her iconic subway grate pose.
Samantha Stephens, Salem, Massachusetts
Elizabeth Montgomery’s Bewitched character sits atop a broom in a crescent moon in downtown Salem. The sculpture has a plaque that reads, “Hair of gold, eyes that twinkle / A nose that neatly twitched, / Clever, charming and enchanting / Samantha left us all Bewitched.”
Sheriff Andy Taylor and Opie Taylor, Mount Airy, North Carolina
The two Andy Griffith Show characters are seen together with their fishing poles, as in the program’s opening sequence. The statue is located outside the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy.
Mary Richards, Minneapolis
The spunky character from The Mary Tyler Moore Show is honored in downtown Minneapolis, throwing her hat into the air as she did in the opening credits.
Arthur Fonzarelli, Milwaukee
A statue of Fonzie from Happy Days has been giving a double thumbs-up in Milwaukee since 2008. Ayyy!
Rocky Balboa, Philadelphia
The Rocky statue, arms raised high as if it’s gonna fly now, is perched at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s famous 72 steps (perfect for training).
Forrest Gump, Savannah, Georgia
Tom Hanks’ Gump rests on a bus bench at the Georgia Visitor Information Center, on I-95 southbound at milepost 111. Visitors can sit with him.
Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Unveiled in 2022, statues of these Breaking Bad guys are located in the Albuquerque Convention Center.
