Who’s Making a Powerful Difference in Our Community? AARP VI Wants to Honor Them!

AARP Virgin Islands is Now Accepting Nominations for the 2026 Virgin Islands Andrus Award for Community Service

Across the U.S. Virgin Islands, there are people age 50 and older quietly making a big impact—giving their time, sharing their wisdom, and using their life experience to lift others. AARP Virgin Islands is proud to help shine a spotlight on those everyday heroes and is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Virgin Islands Andrus Award for Community Service.

This annual award honors Virgin Islanders age 50+ who are using their talents, skills, and experience to strengthen their communities through volunteer service. Whether it’s mentoring young people, helping neighbors in need, supporting nonprofits, or leading grassroots efforts, the Andrus Award recognizes those who prove that service doesn’t stop with age—it grows stronger.

“AARP Virgin Islands is excited to shine a light on 50+ Virgin Islanders who are using what they’ve learned in life to make a difference in the lives around them,” said Troy De Chabert‑Schuster, AARP State Director for the Virgin Islands.

Nominees are evaluated based on how their volunteer work has improved the community, reflects AARP’s mission and values, and inspires others to give back. One outstanding honoree will be selected and announced in early fall.
