AARP’s research has consistently shown that music is a powerful stimulant for the brain—and that insight directly informs how we work to support health, connection, and quality of life as people age. Music fosters emotional well being, sparks memory, and strengthens social bonds, making it a meaningful tool for building stronger, more connected communities.
"We’re thrilled to partner with Hot House West because their work shows the incredible power music has to bring people together,” said Alan Ormsby, AARP Utah State Director. “For adults 50 and older, music is more than entertainment—it supports emotional well being, strengthens community, and creates moments of joy and connection that truly matter.”
With AARP Utah’s support, Hot House West will expand its programming in 2026, including the Joy in Rhythm summer series at Gallivan Center.
This outdoor series of music and dance is designed to create welcoming spaces where people of all ages can gather, connect, and enjoy live music together, reflecting AARP’s commitment to age-friendly, inclusive communities.
This summer, downtown Salt Lake City comes alive with Joy in Rhythm, a new outdoor dance and music series at Gallivan Center presented by Hot House West. Designed as a welcoming, all ages social experience, each evening blends live music, movement, and community into one unforgettable summer night.
