Jessica Lemann Appointed as AARP Texas' Advocacy Manager

AARP Texas has named Jessica Lemann as its new Advocacy Manager, entrusting the longtime AARP leader with directing the organization’s federal, state, and local advocacy efforts.

AARP Texas State Director Lisa A. Rodriguez announced the appointment, citing Lemann’s experience and leadership in advancing AARP’s priorities across Texas and improving the lives of older Texans and their families. During more than 18 years with AARP, Lemann has led community engagement initiatives, cultivated strategic partnerships, organized volunteers, and advanced advocacy and policy priorities, particularly in Austin and communities throughout Central Texas.

“Jessica has a strong track record of advancing advocacy priorities, building partnerships, and empowering volunteers to drive meaningful change,” Rodriguez said. “Her leadership and deep understanding of AARP’s mission make her exceptionally well suited for this role.”

As a member of the AARP Texas management team, Lemann will oversee an Austin-based advocacy staff responsible for advancing AARP’s legislative and advocacy priorities throughout the state. She will coordinate state, federal, and local advocacy efforts and help lead AARP’s statewide volunteer advocacy network.

“I am honored to serve AARP’s more than 2.5 million Texas members in this role and to work with our volunteers and dedicated staff to advocate for policies that matter to older Texans and their families,” Lemann said.

Lemann earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Louisiana State University and, in 2007, began her AARP career in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
