More Ways to Benefit

During the 2026 Tennessee General Assembly featured some notable legislative victories for Tennesseans 50+ and their families.

By Senate resolution, sponsored by Sen. Massey, April was officially proclaimed fraud awareness month in Tennessee. Outside of the legislature, AARP hosted fraud prevention events across the state as part of a fraud blitz.

Additionally, great progress was made on our top issue priorities:

Cryptocurrency ATM Ban

On July 1, cryptocurrency ATM kiosks will be illegal in Tennessee. The law, sponsored by Speaker Sexton and Majority Leader Johnson, was unanimously approved in the House and Senate and signed into law by Governor Lee. The bill was also supported by bankers, law enforcement and advocacy groups statewide. Nationwide, more than 80% of the transaction using crypto ATMs are fraudulent, and this law is a great step forward to help protect older Tennesseans against one of today’s most pervasive scams
