AARP North Dakota is planning a six city Community Challenge grant tour this summer to highlight the great work these communities have done in making their towns places where everyone of every age can thrive.
Each town on our tour has been the recipient of one or more AARP Community Challenge grants. Projects range from making the theater more accessible and creating a community garden in Bowman to adding adaptive bikes to the city’s bike fleet and the creation of an intergenerational music playground in Grand Forks.
“In the ten years of these grants, the projects funded have been grounded in the creativity and community mindedness of residents in North Dakota’s largest and smallest communities,” says Janelle Moos, Advocacy Director for AARP North Dakota. “The goal is to make every community a place you can live in for life – a place for every age. We’re so proud of these projects and excited to shine a light on them this summer.”
The office team and volunteers will set up at existing events, where we’ll feature popup livability demonstrations, hands-on activities, share the ways past Community Challenge grants have transformed spaces residents love and use frequently, and make sure you know how to apply for the 2027 grants.
