AARP Maryland’s Asian American Pacific Islander Senior Resource Guide connects AAPI older adults, caregivers and community partners with culturally informed information on health care, housing, financial assistance, legal support and local services.

What Is the AAPI Senior Resource Guide?

More Ways to Benefit

The Asian American Pacific Islander Senior Resource Guide is a 40-page publication created by AARP Maryland in collaboration with the AARP Maryland AAPI Consortium, a group of AAPI leaders from nonprofits and government agencies across the state.

The guide was developed to help Maryland’s AAPI older adults and their families more easily find services, programs and information that support aging with dignity, independence and connection.

Why It’s Important

Maryland’s AAPI community is diverse, growing and deeply connected to the state’s neighborhoods, families and local economies. Yet many AAPI older adults and caregivers may face barriers when trying to access help, including language differences, cultural gaps, limited awareness of available programs or uncertainty about where to begin.

Having trusted information in one place can make it easier for families to plan ahead, ask the right questions and connect with support before a crisis happens. For community organizations, the guide also offers a practical tool to share with older adults, caregivers and service providers throughout Maryland.

“As Maryland’s fastest-growing minority group, AAPI communities often face cultural and linguistic barriers when accessing critical services,” said AARP Maryland State Director Hank Greenberg. “This guide aims to bridge those gaps by providing comprehensive, culturally informed support.”

What’s Inside the Guide

The AAPI Senior Resource Guide includes information tailored to the needs of AAPI older adults, caregivers and families in Maryland.

  • Health care and wellness resources
  • Legal and financial assistance
  • Social services and housing information
  • Community programs and caregiver support

Who Can Use the Guide?

The guide is designed for AAPI older adults, family caregivers, community organizations, faith groups, health care providers and anyone helping older Marylanders navigate available services.
It can be used as a starting point for conversations about caregiving, aging in place, health needs, housing options, financial planning and community support.

Building a More Supportive Maryland for Older Adults

Resources like the AAPI Senior Resource Guide reflect a broader commitment to making information easier to find, easier to understand and easier to share. By bringing culturally informed support into one accessible publication, AARP Maryland and its partners are helping more older adults and caregivers feel seen, supported and prepared.

“Together, we can continue working toward a Maryland where every resident has access to the resources they need to age with dignity and support,” said Greenberg.
