AARP Hawai‘i is giving consumers information to help them fight fraud with free webinars in April and May on using artificial intelligence safely and fraud prevention
According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers in Hawai‘i reported $79.6 million stolen by fraud in 2025, with the most common scams involving imposter scams followed by online shopping and negative reviews, and investment fraud.

‘The Beekeeper’ Movie Showing/Fraud Resource Fair

Time: 4 to 8 p.m.
Details: Watch the fraud revenge movie, "The Beekeeper," and get information on fighting back against scams at a Hawaiian Community Assets' Project Maka`ala resource fair at the Key Project in Kaneohe – 47-200 Waihee Road. Look for AARP Hawai‘i’s table at the fair.

Understanding AI

In addition to educational events, AARP Hawai‘i also held a shredding event, telephone town hall. At the Legislature we are advocating to pass a bill to provide consumer safeguards for cryptocurrency kiosks, which are used by criminals as a payment method in scams. Senate Bill 2387 and House Bill 2003 are both advancing in the Legislature.
