According to the National Institute on Aging, health disparities are differences in any health-related factor such as disease burden, diagnosis, response to treatment, quality of life, health behaviors, and access to care that exist among population groups.  Factors associated with health disparities include demographics, socioeconomic status, educational attainment, disability status, access to health care, culture, health behaviors, and other biological factors.
