ABOUT
Meredith Rucker Hunter, MS, is senior director of communications integration for AARP Policy, Research and International, and leads communications for AARP’s Chief Public Policy Officer.
For more than 25 years, Hunter has helped really smart people make an impact translating complex issues in meaningful ways. She has led strategic communications on range of topics, including health care, women’s health, saving for retirement, creating livable communities, and trends related to global aging. Prior to her work in the office of AARP’s Chief Public Policy Officer, Hunter managed communications for the AARP’s Center to Champion Nursing in America and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action.
Before coming to AARP, Hunter spent eight years directing client accounts at communication firms in the DC area. She is particularly proud of her contributions to Last Acts, a national public education campaign to improve the care Americans receive at the end of their lives. This work laid the foundation for her understanding of the tough issues facing people and families, and helped her build partnerships with the consumer, quality, and provider stakeholders.
Hunter holds a master of science in justice, law, and society from American University and a bachelor of arts in government and politics from George Mason University.
