ABOUT

Juan Rodriguez, PhD, MPH, MS, is vice president for Brain Health at AARP, where he leads the organization’s work to advance brain health and dementia risk reduction. He serves as executive director of the Global Council on Brain Health, an AARP-led collaborative of internationally recognized scientists and clinicians that translates emerging research into practical guidance for the public. In his role, he sets the strategic direction for AARP’s brain health initiatives, builds partnerships across sectors, and works with internal and external stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of evidence-based brain health strategies. He also represents AARP in national and international forums focused on aging, brain health, and dementia prevention.

Before joining AARP, Rodriguez spent nearly two decades at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he began his career as a research fellow. Most recently, he served as chief of the Healthy Aging Program, where he led national initiatives focused on brain health, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, and healthy aging. His work emphasized increasing public awareness of brain health and dementia risk factors, strengthening data and surveillance systems, and building the capacity of public health agencies and community organizations to support aging populations. Earlier in his career, he contributed to research and national initiatives within CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, focused on issues in cancer prevention, screening, and survivorship.

Rodriguez is adjunct faculty at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, where he teaches research methods and statistics. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer for the Graduate Program in Generic Counseling at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University.

He holds degrees in psychology, epidemiology, and statistics, as well as a doctoral degree in public health from Emory University.
