ABOUT
Amanda Fredriksen is a director for health and long-term care issues in AARP’s Office of Policy Development and Integration. In this role, she leads the development of AARP's public policies on a wide range of issues including public and private health care coverage, quality, and affordability, as well as long-term care access and quality. She also works to integrate these policies into AARP's work throughout the organization.
Fredriksen has more than three decades of experience working on health and long-term care issues. Previously, she worked in the AARP Texas office, where she led state regulatory and legislative work on caregiving and long-term care. Fredriksen also worked for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, where she was responsible for oversight and coordination of long-term care policy and special projects. Before moving to Texas, Fredriksen spent 15 years working for several not-for-profit organizations in Washington, DC, including Families USA, Kaiser Family Foundation and AARP.
Fredriksen holds a master's in health policy from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health and a bachelor's from Syracuse University.
