WASHINGTON — As cold and flu season peaks, many Americans are searching for ways to recover faster and stay well. In her new book, Heal Faster: Unlock Your Body’s Rapid Recovery Reflex, on sale today, physician and integrative medicine expert Victoria Maizes, MD, delivers a timely, evidence-based guide to harnessing the body’s own powerful capacity to heal, often faster and more completely than many expect.
“Too often, people are told to wait it out, tough it out, or rely solely on medications,” said Dr. Maizes. “As organizations like AARP work to ensure older Americans can access the care they need, the science shows people also do better when they are equipped to actively support their own healing. Heal Faster offers practical, evidence-based tools to strengthen the body’s natural recovery systems—helping people preserve independence, improve quality of life, and get the greatest benefit from the health care they rely on.”
Heal Faster draws on more than three decades of clinical experience and scientific research to show readers how to strengthen what Dr. Maizes calls the body’s “Rapid Recovery Reflex”—the built-in systems that regulate immunity, metabolism, inflammation, and resilience, empowering readers with practical strategies that complement conventional care and put them in the driver’s seat of their own recovery.
In Heal Faster, readers will find actionable guidance for recovering from everyday ailments like colds and injuries, and more, including:
A trusted voice in whole-person health, Dr. Maizes has trained thousands of physicians worldwide and has been featured in major national outlets for her evidence-based approach to integrative medicine. Heal Faster reflects her core message: healing is not passive—and with the right tools, it is well within reach.
