Nearly 5 million BlendJet 2 portable blenders have been recalled because they may overheat or catch fire, causing the blender blades to break and posing a fire and laceration risk to consumers.

There have been 329 reports of the blades breaking while in use and 17 fire incidents that caused about $150,000 in property damage, along with 49 reports of minor burns and one laceration injury, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalled BlendJet 2 blender

The recall involves BlendJet 2 portable blenders sold in various colors and designs. To identify whether a specific blender is recalled, look for the serial number printed on the bottom of the base along with “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender.” Units with the first 4 digits of the serial numbers between 5201 and 5542 are recalled.

The products were sold at Costco, Walmart, Target and other retailers from October 2020 through November 2023 for $50 to $75.

Anyone who has one of the recalled products should stop using it and contact BlendJet for a free replacement of the base unit. To receive the replacement, consumers need to remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of the blender into three or more pieces and email a photo that shows the serial number and the cut rubber to safety@blendjet.com or visit blendjet.com/safetyandrecall.

To determine whether you have a recalled blender, enter the serial number into the “Is my BlendJet 2 Recalled?” tool at blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or call the company at 844-334-0562.
