Bette Midler, 70: The Divine Miss M released her album It's the Girls! last year, featuring covers of girl group classics. More recently she's been cast to appear in the movie Freak Show, based on the 2007 book, about a cross-dressing teen.

Woody Allen, 80: A new challenge for the movie director: creating a TV series — his first — for Amazon Studios. Meanwhile, Allen’s been spotted in New York’s Central Park filming a still-untitled movie with Steve Carell, Jessie Eisenberg and Kristin Stewart.

Cassandra Wilson, 60: The jazz great’s 2015 album, Coming Forth by Day, features Wilson’s renditions of Billie Holiday tunes. She told NPR, "I couldn't wait to get inside of this material and spruce it up, reinvent it, do some wild and crazy things to it."
