Actress, director and producer Salma Hayek Pinault, 58, is sharing a unique beauty tip for everyone struggling with gray hair.

Appearing in an Instagram video for Vogue Beauty, the Hollywood star emphatically says, “I do not dye my hair,” while revealing she uses mascara to cover her gray strands.

“But if you choose not to dye your hair, and you have the white like I do ... or sometimes you don’t want the white, I use mascara,” Hayek Pinault said.

She then shared a few beauty tips for women looking to enhance their appearance as they age.

“You have to change your makeup and beauty routine as you get older [laughs],” Hayek Pinault explained. “Sometimes you go, ‘Oh, I don’t look good, and I did all my makeup but I hate the way I look.’ Change the makeup. Because maybe what worked before isn’t working now. So, it’s good to be adventurous and creative and try to have fun while you do it.”

The Oscar-nominated actress sported a green bikini on the recent 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Between trying on more than 100 swimsuits and having her suitcase get lost in transit to Mexico, Hayek Pinault shared with the Today show that she initially tried “back out” of the photo shoot.

“I was really not confident and very nervous, and then I showed up feeling like, ‘What am I doing here?’ ” Hayek Pinault said. Then, in the first shot, a whale majestically jumped out of the water behind her, and everything turned around.

“All of a sudden, I felt: This is magical!” she said. “This is my land. I’m 58. I’m doing this.”

Hayek Pinault joins other 55-plus women who have been featured on the cover of the famed magazine, including journalist Gayle King, model Maye Musk, supermodel Christie Brinkley and author-entrepreneur Martha Stewart, who, at 81, became the oldest cover person in franchise history.

Hayek Pinault spoke to AARP in 2021 about the many challenges she’s overcome in her life, such as dealing with menopause, beating COVID-19and aging.

“Growing old, to me, has to do with repetition,” the Desperado star explained. “Something gets old when you’ve done it for a long time. ....If you’re always changing, if you’re always curious, how can you be old? You’re someone new today.”

For people who are looking to reverse the appearance of gray hair, consider reducing your stress levels and taking multivitamins.
