Sept. 1: Gloria Estefan, 60

The Havana-born singer has come a long way since her Latin rhythms first grabbed us with "Conga," her 1985 career-launching hit. This year the seven-time Grammy winner will receive one of the Kennedy Center Honors, and On Your Feet! — a musical based on her life — begins a 50-city tour on Sept. 22.

Sept. 7: Leslie Jones, 50

In 2014, at age 47, this Emmy-nominated comedian became the oldest cast member to join Saturday Night Live. Last year, Jones proved she wasn’t afraid of ghosts or the Twitter bullies who bashed her remake of Ghostbusters with a female cast. Her ferocious comic energy was on full display as host of the recent BET Awards.

Sept. 11: Harry Connick Jr., 50

The handsome crooner with the New Orleans drawl got his big break when he oversaw the soundtrack for 1989’s When Harry Met Sally… and would go on to add actor (Hope Floats, TV’s Will & Grace) and American Idol judge to his credits. Now he’s a daytime talk-show host; his syndicated show Harry has been renewed for a second season.

Sept. 12: Louis C.K., 50

“I don’t think women are better than men. I think men are a lot worse than women.” That sums up the non-PC humor of the guy who has been declared America’s undisputed king of comedy by GQ magazine. His FX autobiographical series Louie is on an extended hiatus after five seasons, but he has been working with Pamela Adlon on her smart Louie-like FX comedy Better Things.

Sept. 14: Sam Neill, 70

This ruggedly handsome New Zealand-bred actor — star of A Cry in the Dark and Plenty opposite Meryl Streep, Jurassic Park and TV’s Reilly: Ace of Spies— rarely has gone a year without a new project. His next is a role in Thor: Ragnarok.

Sept. 21: Faith Hill, 50

When the country superstar came out with "This Kiss" in 1998, it — and she — became a pop crossover hit; she has sold more than 40 million albums. She has been sharing the stage with Tim McGraw, her husband of nearly 21 years, on their Soul2Soul II World Tour, which wraps at the end of October.

Sept. 21: Stephen King, 70

This Maine-based master of horror — author of 54 novels and 200 short stories, including The Shining and The Shawshank Redemption — just doesn’t slow down. This month he releases the first book written with his son Owen, Sleeping Beauties. And It— the film remake of his evil clown horror tale — is out Sept. 8.

Sept. 25: Cheryl Tiegs, 70

Considered the first American supermodel, she made quite a splash when she appeared in a white fishnet top for the 1978 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. (There also was that iconic cheesecake pose in a pink bikini that showed up on countless bedroom walls). On Twitter she writes about all the things she loves — including hiking, honeybees and rescue pups Squish and Jagger.
