Darrell Sheets, who gained fame on the A&E reality TV show Storage Wars, has died. He was 67.
Sheets was found unresponsive at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, on April 22. In a statement released to Variety, local police there said Sheets apparently died from “what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.” Officials say they are still investigating his death.
Sheets, who was known on Storage Wars as “The Gambler” because of the risky bids he placed on abandoned storage units being sold at auction, starred in 163 episodes of the show from 2010 to 2023, according to IMDb. He frequently appeared on the program with his son, Brandon.
One of his Storage Wars costars, Rene Nezhoda, posted a video on Instagram claiming that Sheets had been a victim of cyberbullying.
“Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that’s been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope they [authorities] look into that guy,” Nezhoda said in the video.
Sheets, who had been in the salvage business for more than three decades, claimed to have recovered “four Picassos and the world’s most lucrative comic book collection” from abandoned storage units, according to his bio on A&E’s website.
