AARP has been honored by The Webby Awards for projects that help older adults improve their brain health, navigate Social Security and Medicare and get support as caregivers

The Webby Awards, in its 30th year, recognizes the best online stories, podcasts, social media, websites and videos. AARP was honored for a video interview with Emma Heming Willis about being a caregiver for her husband, actor Bruce Willis; for a social media video on the impact of microplastics on brain health; and for the creation of two AI-powered chatbots that answer reader questions about Social Security and Medicare.

Winners across all categories were chosen from 13,000 entries sent in from all 50 states and more than 70 countries.

The video Bruce Willis’ Wife on Life After His Dementia Diagnosis was the Webby winner in the Social, Health & Wellness category. Emma Heming Willis discusses her book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path and her efforts to balance the needs of her young daughters and her husband, who has frontotemporal dementia.

“This Webby affirms the power of thoughtful storytelling,” says Caitlin Rossman, a senior producer at AARP Studios, who oversaw the video’s production. “This project treated a deeply personal story with care — centering empathy and the lived reality of families navigating dementia.”

“We created the AI chatbots as Q&A tools to help consumers navigate complex decisions around Medicare and Social Security,” says Kathleen Long, a senior product manager at AARP and one of the project’s leaders. “It’s so exciting to be recognized.
