New podcast - Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Across the country, millions of grandparents are stepping in as “Kinship Caregivers” to provide love, stability, and care when it's needed most.

Across the country, millions of grandparents are stepping in as “Kinship Caregivers” to provide love, stability, and care when it's needed most. In fact, about 2.7 million grandparents in the U.S. are primary caregivers for their grandchildren.

But what does that journey really look like? What challenges do they face, and what support do they need?

AARP Washington’s Marguerite Ro recently sat down with Dr. Pela Terry from Atlantic Street Center to talk about kinship care. They discussed both the challenges and rewards of providing care – everything from the emotional to the financial – and the role of community.

Whether you're a caregiver, advocate, or simply interested in learning more – check out the latest “Caring for Caregivers” video podcast below. Also be sure to visit this page for previous episodes.
