Shawnee residents looking to make their homes safer, more accessible, and more aging‑friendly will have the chance to learn from an expert when AARP brings its popular, free HomeFit program to the Shawnee Recreation Center on February 19.

“People overwhelmingly prefer to age in the comfort of their own homes,” said Kendra Orcutt, Occupational Therapist and AARP Oklahoma Executive Council member. “HomeFit provides fun, beautiful, and practical solutions to help make your or your loved one’s home a lifelong home.”

Attendees will learn simple home modifications that can make a big difference whether planning for the future or making a loved one’s home safer and more accessible today. Participants will also hear about the City of Shawnee Aging‑In‑Place Program, which provides home assessments, education, and essential safety and accessibility repairs for eligible seniors.

February 19

10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Shawnee Recreation Center – Wood Room

401 N Bell Avenue, Shawnee, OK 74801

Free snacks, a copy of the AARP HomeFit Guide, and giveaways will be provided. Registration is encouraged, but not required at https://events.aarp.org/vY2Z2y.
