AARP New Jersey Recognizes Amos Britton for His Dedication and Commitment to Community Service With Its Most Prestigious Volunteer Award

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Amos Britton has been selected by AARP, the nonprofit organization for people 50 and older, to receive the 2024 AARP New Jersey Andrus Award for Community Service, the Association’s most prestigious and visible state volunteer award for community service.

AARP New Jersey selected Britton, a Roselle resident, for his remarkable service, which has greatly benefitted his the community, reflected AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers. Britton has volunteered to teach more than 200 Driver Safety Courses to thousands of people, which has contributed to keeping New Jersey’s streets safe for all drivers.

"I love what I do with AARP NJ to help my neighbors drive safely,” says Britton. “I am honored to receive the Andrus Award and follow in Dr. Andrus’ footsteps. Volunteering with AARP has brought me considerable joy that has helped me connect to my community in a new and exciting way. I look forward to continuing for many, many years, to come!

The award will be formally presented to Britton at a ceremony on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Pierre’s of South Brunswick in Monmouth Junction, NJ.

"This award acts as a symbol to the public that we can all work together for positive social change, says Chris Widelo, AARP New Jersey State Director. AARP has long valued the spirit of volunteerism and the important contributions volunteers make to their communities, neighbors, and the programs they serve.

Recipients across the nation were chosen for their ability to enhance the lives of AARP members and prospective members, improve the community in or for which the work was performed, and inspire others to volunteer.
