32 Years in the Vicksburg Classroom
Louise devoted 32 years to full-time teaching and an additional four years to part-time service in the Vicksburg-Warren School District. During that time, she helped students learn, grow, and recognize their own potential.
A proud graduate of Alcorn State University, Louise earned her degree in 1971, the university's historic Centennial year. That milestone reflects the standard of excellence she has carried throughout her life.
Her career was never just about the curriculum. It was about people. It was about showing up, day after day, and reminding young Mississippians that they matter.
Deep Roots in the Vicksburg Community
Louise's commitment to service runs through every part of her life in Vicksburg. She is a proud member of AARP Chapter 4967, the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. (NANBPWC) Vicksburg Club, the Rosa A. Temple Class of 1965, and the Elite Civic Club of Vicksburg. She also holds a Life Membership in American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213.
These connections are not just affiliations. They reflect a lifelong dedication to community, fellowship, and lifting others up. For Louise, belonging to these organizations means showing up for her neighbors and honoring the long tradition of civic service in Vicksburg.
What Volunteering with AARP Mississippi Means to Louise
As an AARP Mississippi volunteer, Louise works in the community, supports her neighbors, and builds meaningful relationships that go beyond a single interaction.
She believes that sharing her time, her talents, and her encouragement can bring real hope to people who need it. She wants people to know they are seen and valued. And she knows from experience that even a small act of kindness can leave a lasting mark.
Louise also hopes her example inspires others in Mississippi to get involved. Service is not reserved for a select few. It is open to anyone willing to show up.
The Faith That Guides Her
Louise's motivation for service is rooted in faith and in genuine love for the people around her. She sees the blessings in her own life as something to be shared, not kept.
Her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, puts it plainly: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Those words guide her wherever she is called to serve.
