Area Agencies on Aging | Department of Health and Human Services connect veterans and caregivers to community services such as long-term care options, nutrition programs, transportation, case management, and caregiver training.

7. New Free Tool Helps Veterans Find VA Care Closer to Home

Getting VA health care may be easier than you think. That is why VMF launched a new project to empower veterans seeking care near them. AARP’s new free search tool connects veterans, and military families find nearby VA community care providers without the long drive to a VA hospital. Veterans will simply enter their ZIP code, and Health.Vet will email a personalized report with the closest eligible providers in their area. Learn more and search for providers here.

8. Paws with Purpose: Free Dog Training Video Series for Veterans and Families

Looking to build a stronger bond with your dog? AARP’s Veterans and Military Families program and Dogs Inc have partnered to offer a free dog training video series featuring expert instruction and practical tips you can use right away. Designed for veterans, military families, and caregivers—but open to all dog owners—the series focuses on basic pet dog training that can help create structure, reduce stress, and strengthen connections at home.
