This lecture explores platforms where generative AI is available, how it simplifies tasks, and key privacy considerations to keep in mind when using these platforms. A light lunch will be served. Disinformation isn’t new, but AI and social media have accelerated its spread. This lecture will discuss AI-driven deepfakes and voice cloning, explain why they’re hard to detect, and share best practices and tools for evaluating and identifying AI-generated content. Registration required. NOTE: This morning session was added due to high demand for the afternoon session; the presentation content is the same.

“Stop the Scammers” Statewide Tour

AARP Iowa is partnering with the Iowa Department of Insurance & Financial Services and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office for a statewide series of free educational events designed to help you learn how to proactively spot and avoid scams and fraud. Tour stops are listed below. A light meal will be served at each event. These events are free, but advanced registration is required at IowaFraudFighters.gov/stop-the-scammers.*
