Voting by Absentee Ballot in Connecticut’s 2026 Elections

The 2026 elections are right around the corner. For Connecticut residents to make sure their voice is heard, it's more important than ever to know when, where, and how to vote. New for 2026, one of those methods for casting your vote will be through a no-excuse absentee ballot.
Connecticut voters overwhelmingly supported removing the need for an excuse to vote by absentee ballot in 2024. This legislation will eliminate restrictions on absentee voting and reform the process to ensure it is easy, convenient, and without onerous requirements.

Any eligible Connecticut registered voter may request, receive, and vote an absentee ballot. Connecticut law requires election officials to issue absentee ballots to registered voters who submit an application starting 31 days before a general election which is Saturday, Oct. 3. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the general election will be Monday, Nov. 2. To be counted, absentee ballots but be received by Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m.
