AARP Fraud Prevention Month Brings Free Events to Colorado

Fraud continues to threaten families across the country — and here in Colorado, the impact is real.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, consumers in Colorado reported $216.5 million in fraud losses in 2024, with impostor scams being the most common.

In response, AARP took action this April during Fraud Prevention Month, bringing free in-person and virtual events, workshops, and fraud-prevention resources directly to communities across Colorado. AARP ElderWatch scheduled secure document shredding events throughout the summer. 

 

Free Document Shred Days – Spring and Summer 2026

Bring two to three boxes or bags of sensitive documents for free, secure shredding to a Shred Day this spring or summer, courtesy of AARP ElderWatch and the AARP Fraud Watch Network. Check back soon for additional dates and locations.
