What Is an AARP Colorado Postcard Party Box?
AARP Colorado is offering Postcard Party Boxes to anyone in the state who wants to raise what matters to them with the candidates seeking their vote in 2026. Gather your friends and family members and make your voice heard!
Each box includes premade, retro-style postcards you can personalize, pens, and other goodies. Add your priorities in your own words plus postage, then mail the postcards to the state or federal candidates of your choice on the November 3 ballot.
Every postcard also includes a link to AARP Colorado's 50-plus voting issues page, giving candidates direct access to information about what voters 50 and older in Colorado are paying attention to this election cycle. Why Colorado Voters 50 and Over Will Shape the 2026 Midterms
With more than 900,000 family caregivers and more than 1 million Coloradans counting on Social Security, the policy decisions candidates make have real, daily consequences for older residents and their families. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, AARP's role is to make sure candidates understand the priorities of Coloradans 50-plus and respond to them.
The Issues Colorado Candidates Need to Hear From You
When you fill out your Postcard Party Box postcards for federal or state candidates, you choose the topic. Here are the issues AARP Colorado has identified as top priorities for voters 50 and over heading into November 2026:
Social Security
Without congressional action, Social Security is projected to cover only about 80 percent of full payments by around 2033. AARP opposes any changes that would cut payments, reduce cost-of-living adjustments, privatize the program, or raise the retirement age.
Caregiving
Colorado's more than 900,000 family caregivers contribute roughly $16 billion in mostly unpaid labor each year. AARP is fighting to put money back in caregivers' pockets and empower older Coloradans to age in place.
Prescription Drug Costs and Consumer Protections
More than eight in 10 adults 50 and older say prescription drugs are too expensive. Colorado's next governor and congressional delegation will have a direct role in whether the state supports the Colorado Prescription Drug Affordability Review Board and maintains strong consumer protections in other sectors, such as housing and employment.
Housing and Livable Communities
A 2024 AARP survey found that 75 percent of older adults want to stay in their homes, but 44 percent feel they will have no choice but to move. AARP is pushing candidates to develop real solutions that help Coloradans 50 and older find and keep affordable housing and age in the communities they love.
