AARP Alabama Welcomes Florence Native Nathaniel White as Associate State Director for Outreach and Advocacy

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – AARP Alabama is pleased to announce the hiring of Nathaniel White, a Florence native, as the organization's new Associate State Director for Outreach and Advocacy, serving Huntsville and communities across North Alabama.

In his new role, White will work to strengthen AARP's engagement with residents, community organizations, and state and local leaders while advancing advocacy efforts that improve the lives of older adults and their families throughout the region.

"Nathaniel brings a unique combination of policy expertise, healthcare advocacy experience, and a passion for public service that will help us expand our impact across North Alabama," said AARP Alabama State Director Candi Williams. "His commitment to building strong communities and collaborating with stakeholders makes him an outstanding addition to our team."

White is a public policy and healthcare advocacy professional whose career has focused on the intersection of law, healthcare, and community engagement. As Associate State Director for Outreach and Advocacy, he will help advance AARP Alabama's priorities by fostering relationships with community partners, engaging volunteers and members, and advocating with elected officials for policies and initiatives that empower Alabamians as they age.

Prior to joining AARP, White worked in healthcare and nonprofit advocacy, building relationships with policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders to advance public policy priorities. His professional experience includes healthcare policy, legislative advocacy, public affairs, and a judicial clerkship in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

White earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law and is currently completing a Master of Healthcare Administration at Northwestern University.

A lifelong Alabamian, White is excited to serve the region he calls home.

"I look forward to helping advance initiatives that strengthen communities and improve quality of life for older adults throughout our state."

Outside of work, White is a proud father of two who enjoys traveling with his family, exploring new coffee shops, and following Ole Miss football. He is enthusiastic about public service and believes strong communities are built through advocacy, engagement, and collaboration.

As AARP Alabama continues its work to support the state's 50-plus population, White's experience and leadership will play a key role in expanding outreach efforts and advancing policies that help people live and age with dignity, independence, and purpose.
