AARP and Nursing
AARP recognizes the vital role nurses play in caring for older adults and their families. In collaboration with other organizations, AARP supports and administers the Nursing Innovations Fund as a strategic initiative to bolster the nursing workforce.
American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and AARP
Since 2024, AARP has teamed up with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses to strengthen nursing retention through creating and sustaining healthy work environments. As the world’s largest specialty nursing organization, with more than 130,000 members and nearly 200 chapters in the United States, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses is guided by a vision of a health care system driven by the needs of patients and families, where nurses make their optimal contribution. The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses’ priority is to establish and sustain healthy work environments that support nursing excellence. In alignment with this vision, the AACN Healthy Work Environment Assessment Tool (HWEAT-Team) enables every hospital unit and clinical team to systematically evaluate and monitor its advancement to cultivate and maintain a healthy work environment.
