A Comprehensive Study of Family Caregivers

For more than 30 years, Caregiving in the US, a report from AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving has served as a leading source of data on family caregivers in America. Since its inception in 1997, the study has been updated regularly (2004, 2009, 2015, 2020), tracking shifts in caregiver demographics and experiences.

The 2025 edition is the most comprehensive to date, offering new insights into caregivers’ health, the role of paid family caregivers, and overall caregiver experience. These findings are critical for shaping policy and advancing research that supports family caregivers nationwide.
