The AARP Public Policy Institute (PPI) published a NEW Thinking Policy blog released in tandem with May 2024’s Social Security Trustees annual report. Extensive survey and polling research demonstrates that a strong majority of Americans believe Social Security is an important program they view favorably and opposes reductions in funds that would reduce benefits. In addition, a NEW AARP Policy Now video segment finds that regardless of income, education or even age, most Americans value Social Security.
