In March 2021, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act. This new law includes the largest expansion of Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits since the ACA was enacted over a decade ago. In addition, the federal government created a new special enrollment period for people to sign up for health insurance through the ACA insurance exchanges. The fact sheets below provide rough state-level estimates of who could potentially benefit from these changes.
