Over 7,000 pounds of Italian pork sausage sold nationwide by Bob Evans Farms Foods was recalled because the products may be contaminated with thin blue pieces of rubber, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced.
The raw sausage was produced Sept. 8 and sold in one-pound containers with lot code XEN3663466, a use or freeze by date of Nov. 26, and a time stamp between 14:45 and 15:25. The USDA inspection establishment number EST. 6785 is also printed on the packaging.
The USDA is concerned the recalled products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who purchased the recalled sausage is urged to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
The issue was discovered after the USDA received complaints from consumers who reported finding pieces of rubber in their sausage. There have been no reports of adverse reactions.
Anyone concerned about injury or illness from eating the tainted products should contact a health care provider. Other consumers with questions about the recall can contact Bob Evans Foods’ director of communications, Geo Money, at 440-463-3264.
