Profile

Juan Rodriguez is a public health researcher and leader with more than 20 years of experience translating research into public-serving programs, partnerships, and policies to improve population health and address chronic diseases.

Most recently, he served as Chief of the Healthy Aging Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and managed agency portfolios on Alzheimer’s Disease, arthritis, and healthy aging. In this role he worked to increase public awareness of dementia risk factors, expand communication about strategies for maintaining brain health, improve access to and availability of data, and strengthen the capacity of public health agencies and community organizations to serve aging populations.

Previously, Juan was part of CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control where he led or contributed to research, programs, and communication campaigns to improve cancer screening access and utilization, improve the quality of life of cancer survivors, and promote community-based approaches for the primary prevention of cancer. Throughout his time at CDC, he consistently built partnerships to develop and implement national strategies, and support programs that address the health needs of diverse and aging populations.

Juan has a strong history of translating research findings into actionable programs, policies, and resources for public health professionals, providers, and the public. He has built partnerships with state health departments, national nonprofits, and community-based organizations, ensuring that evidence-based strategies reach the people and communities who need them most. He is passionate about bridging data, policy, and practice to reduce health disparities and improve quality of life.

Juan holds degrees in psychology, public health, and statistics, as well as a doctoral degree in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences from Emory University.
