An Improved AARP Online Community

 

We're upgrading the AARP Online Community to provide an improved user experience while preserving the connections and conversations you value.

To make that possible, we'll soon be moving to a new platform that will support the community today and into the future.

Whether you're using a computer, tablet, or smartphone, you'll continue to have a place to connect, share experiences, and discover helpful information.

Over the next few weeks, we'll share updates and guide you through the transition, so you'll know what to expect every step of the way.

What will transfer to the new platform?

  • Logging into the new Community will remain the same.
  • Posts, replies and kudos added up until August 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET will migrate to the new AARP Online Community 
  • Your username, profile information, and profile photo.

What will NOT transfer to the new platform?

  • Topics that haven't had any activity in the past three years have been archived and won't be transferred.
  • Topic and category subscription
  • Favorites and notification preferences
  • Private messages
  • Photo albums and the photos stored in them (Images included in forum and discussion posts WILL transfer)
  • Unpublished drafts

What will change?

  • Categories will be simplified
  • Friends will convert to Followers
  • Your community rank will be updated and may not be the same as your current rank

We're upgrading the AARP Online Community to provide an improved user experience while preserving the connections and conversations you value. As we move forward, the new platform will make it easier for AARP community members to connect online as we introduce new features over time. 

We expect to launch the new AARP Online Community shortly after August 5. We will communicate the confirmed launch date as soon as it is finalized and will provide advance notice of the temporary downtime associated with the transition.

Yes. You'll still be able to browse, read, and participate in the community until the new AARP Online Community launches. 

Any new posts, replies, or kudos added to the current community after August 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET will not transfer to the new AARP Online Community.

Images included in discussions and forum posts will be transferred. 

Yes. Your profile information, including your profile photo, will be transferred to the new community.

Yes. Your username will remain the same in the new AARP Online Community.

Community ranks are being updated as part of the new platform. You'll still have a community rank, but it may not be the same as your current rank.

Yes. You can update your profile information, including your profile photo and other profile details, after the new AARP Online Community launches.

The Friends feature will become Followers in the new community. Your existing friend connections will transfer as follower relationships, and you'll be able to see who is following you.

Yes. The new platform has an updated look and feel, and some features may appear in different locations. We'll provide resources to help you get familiar with the new experience.

No. You'll continue using your AARP account to sign in to the Online Community.

For most users, no action will be needed before launching. If there are any steps you need to take, we'll provide clear instructions before the transition.

We'll provide resources and support before and after the launch. If you have questions, we'll be here to help every step of the way.

To align with the updated AARP Community structure, some forums will be combined, renamed, or moved to different categories. If you've bookmarked a forum, redirects will help guide you to its new location. The changes include:
