Halle Berry Dishes on Finally Finding Love in Her 50s

Halle Berry, 58, is a true romantic at heart. Now she’s spilling all the tea about her whirlwind romance with 55-year-old singer-songwriter Van Hunt. 

While hosting Today with Jenna & Friends on June 4, 2025, the Oscar-winning actress snuggled next to Hunt and shared her thoughts about their five-year relationship, noting it’s “the longest one I’ve ever had.”

“When you find your person, you find your person,” she said. “I’ve found my person, finally.”

The Emmy- and Golden Globe–winning star has been married three times: 

• Former baseball pro David Justice, 59 (1993-1997)
• Musician Eric Benét, 58 (2001-2005)
• Actor Olivier Martinez, 59 (2013-2015)

Hunt said he met Berry in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic through his brother, who works for Berry’s menopause health company, Respin. Hunt’s brother was adamant about pairing up the two lovebirds, but Berry hesitated, saying, “I don’t like to be set up.” Hunt also erred on the side of caution, adding, “Who asks you if you want to date Halle Berry?”

After communicating nonstop through text messages, Berry, who is also a director and producer, said she knew they had a chemistry she hadn’t felt before.

“Before we ever got together in any physical kind of way, I had fallen madly in love just through talking,” Berry explained, “and telling and sharing ... all of our good, our bad, our dirty. We were completely honest because we were in COVID and who cared?

“I thought, If I never see him face to face, he’s going to know all of this stuff, but who cares?”

Hunt proposed to Berry recently, but she told Today they don’t feel like they have to get married to “validate our love.” 

“I think we will get married just because, out of all the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married.”

Earlier in the interview, Berry spoke about a viral video that showed her and Hunt in bed together on Mother’s Day. 

Berry said she received some negative feedback on the Instagram post but that she wasn’t sorry. Intimacy is a key part of adult relationships, she noted.

“... Scientifically, it’s really important that men and women still keep having orgasms and having sex into their later years, because that’s how we stay healthy,” she said. “That’s really a key component to longevity.”

A 2023 AARP study on sex and relationships found that intimacy is vital to adults ages 40 and older. In fact, 41 percent of Americans polled said they are looking for more ways to connect with their spouse or partner.

Berry appeared on the February/March 2022 cover of AARP The Magazine.

In that interview, she spoke about the struggles she faced in previous relationships. 

“Women get stuck in relationships,” the Monster’s Ball actress said. “We want to make it work; we want to fix it. Then we often jump into a new relationship to heal from the old one, and we’re just rebounding and never taking the time to grow and take care of ourselves first.

“The pheromones take over and pop off from body to body, and you get stuck on stupid. Your body wants what your body wants, and your brain follows — instead of your brain leading and your body following."
