Set Your Vehicle’s Mirrors to Limit Blind Spots

All vehicles have blind spots, or places on both sides of your vehicle that you cannot see in the rearview or side view mirrors.

Blind spots for shorter drivers tend to be significantly larger. In addition, the elevation of the driver’s seat, the shape of a vehicle’s windows and vehicle design can affect the size of the blind spots.

These simple steps can reduce blind spots/zones.

Rearview Mirror Adjustment

• Sit in the driver’s seat;
  
• Adjust the rearview mirror so you can see the entire rear window.
  

Left Mirror Adjustment

• Sit in the driver’s seat;
  
• Rest your head against the driver’s side window;
• Adjust the left mirror until you can barely see the left rear back of your vehicle.
  

Right Mirror Adjustment

• Sit in the driver’s seat;
  
• Lean to your right so you are directly in front of the rearview mirror mount;
  
• Adjust the right mirror until you can barely see the right rear back of your vehicle.
