How AARP Uses AI in Editorial Content Creation

En español | At AARP, we view AI as a valuable tool that supports our mission to empower people to choose how they live as they age. Human editors are ultimately responsible for all published content.

Our editors may use generative AI tools to:

  • Draft headlines, promotional copy, subheads, search engine optimization copy and metadata fields
  • Draft key takeaways or summaries
  • Assist in online research, copy editing or the brainstorming process
  • Assist in language translation
  • Assist in analyzing large sets of data
  • Assist in transcription, captioning and editing of audio and video content

In limited circumstances, AI may be used to create first drafts of content, like our weekly news quizzes.

Sample AI disclosure statement: This quiz was created with the assistance of generative AI. An AARP editor reviewed and refined the content for accuracy and clarity.

We are committed to the ethical use of AI, and we will be transparent about its use.
