Staying Fit
As the old adage goes, "You can do anything you set your mind to."
That's just what Antoinette Little, 62, did when her doctor advised her to quit her high-stress job as Director of Administration at a law firm – or die trying to keep up with the work. It's also what Peter Brooks did when he felt a midlife crisis coming on. Stories like these are just some of many behind Life Reimagined®, a simple and powerful new idea from AARP. Life Reimagined offers online and in-person tools, guidance, events and a monthly series on the Today show – all designed to help people achieve their personal, health, financial and career goals, as well as connect with others who have similar interests. There are even a documentary and a book in the works.
The Life Reimagined journey begins with a remarkably simple interactive experience where anyone – including non-AARP members – can spend a few hours exploring where they are in life and what their next move should be. Participants can have meaningful conversations with friends and family, be part of a community and learn from stories like that of 66-year-old Helen Butleroff-Leahy, a former Rockette at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, who now runs a thriving nutrition education nonprofit and sees up to 10 nutrition clients a week. Read her story.
There's also Life Reimagined for Work, designed to help experienced professionals connect to more satisfying careers. Full of inspiration, expert advice, contacts and tools, Life Reimagined for Work helps people find jobs, manage their careers, start a business or simply explore their options.
It's all part of what AARP is doing to help people live their best lives.
