AARP Virgin Islands Partners to Help Residents Learn, Register, and Prepare to Vote

Free voting machine demonstrations and voter registration events coming to St. Croix and St. Thomas

AARP Virgin Islands is partnering with the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Election System, the Virgin Islands Diabetes Center of Excellence, and Tutu Park Mall to host free community events that will help residents understand the voting process, experience hands-on voting machine demonstrations, and register to vote ahead of the upcoming election.

The Access the Vote! Voting Machine Demonstration and Voter Registration Events will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Sunny Isles Shopping Pavilion on St. Croix and Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Tutu Park Mall on St. Thomas, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

As part of AARP Virgin Islands' ongoing commitment to civic engagement, the events will provide residents with an opportunity to become familiar with the voting equipment they will encounter on Election Day, receive voter registration assistance, and access reliable information about voting and civic participation.

"Voting is one of the most important ways people make their voices heard," said Troy De Chabert-Schuster, State Director AARP Virgin Islands. "We want Virgin Islanders of all ages to feel informed, prepared, and confident when they go to the polls. These events bring together trusted community partners to provide the information and support residents need to participate in our democracy."

Attendees will have an opportunity to:

Experience a live voting machine demonstration.
Receive voter registration assistance from the Virgin Islands Election System.
Learn about voting rights and accessibility resources from the Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands.
Connect with AARP Virgin Islands and learn about programs, resources, and advocacy efforts that support older adults and their families.
Receive diabetes information and health screenings from the Virgin Islands Diabetes Center of Excellence on St. Croix.

Residents who wish to register to vote should bring a Birth Certificate, United States Passport, DD214 Military Discharge Form, or Naturalization Certificate.

The community events will also feature local entertainment, including Stanley & the 10 Sleepless Knights on St. Croix and DJ Iggy on St. Thomas.

The events are free and open to the public.
