AARP VI, NTRA Partner to Engage Retired Educators in the 2026 Gubernatorial Forum

For decades, teachers across the U.S. Virgin Islands have helped shape informed citizens, strengthen communities, and inspire future leaders. Now, AARP Virgin Islands is inviting retired educators to continue that legacy by participating in one of the most important civic events of the election season.

AARP Virgin Islands and WTJX, the territory's PBS member station, are partnering to host the 2026 Gubernatorial Forum, a nonpartisan voter education event that will give Virgin Islanders the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates seeking to become the territory's next governor. The forum will feature candidates discussing their vision for the territory and responding to questions on issues important to voters. To expand participation among retired educators, AARP Virgin Islands is collaborating with the National Teachers Retired Association (NTRA) to encourage retired teachers to attend this special viewing opportunity.

As someone who dedicated a career to education and civic engagement, your voice matters. The forum provides a valuable opportunity to hear candidates explain their priorities in their own words and compare their positions before casting your ballot.

Participants may choose to attend the live audience event on St. Thomas or join fellow retired educators at the St. Croix simulcast watch party, where the forum will be streamed live. Advance registration is required.
