AARP Utah Volunteers Help Feed Hundreds of Midvale Families

AARP Utah Volunteers Help Deliver 20,000+ Pounds of Food

When AARP Utah volunteers show up at Midvale Elementary each month, they're doing more than distributing food—they're helping provide peace of mind to local families.

Thanks to the dedication of AARP Utah volunteers and a partnership with the Utah Food Bank's Mobile School Pantry Program, hundreds of Midvale families received nutritious food and support throughout the 2025–2026 school year. A recent report from Utah Food Bank highlights the significant impact made possible through this collaborative effort.

More Ways to Benefit

At Midvale Elementary alone, the program provided:

  • 20,420 pounds of food
  • 9 food distributions
  • 1,315 households served
  • 3,377 children and teens served

These numbers represent families who didn't have to worry as much about putting food on the table and children who had access to nutritious meals.

Utah Food Bank Development Coordinator Mia Canham thanked AARP Utah for its support, noting the impact volunteers and community partners have on the lives of local families.

"Your support has played an important role in providing consistent access to food for children and their families experiencing food insecurity," Canham said. "These numbers reflect not only our reach, but reduced stress for families, improved access to food, and stronger support for children in our community."

AARP Utah volunteers assist with food distributions at Midvale Elementary monthly during the school year as part of our ongoing community service efforts. Their commitment helps ensure that families can access fresh, nutritious food close to home.
