As extreme weather continues to intensify across Texas, preparation is key. Central Texas is prone to flooding, wildfires, drought, and extreme heat during severe weather events. This summer, AARP Texas is proud to support KXAN, in partnership with Family Eldercare, to donate fans to older adults.
Extreme heat is one of the leading weather-related dangers, especially for older adults and those with underlying health conditions. Simple measures like access to a working fan can make a life-saving difference.
Join us on July 10, 2026 at the KXAN Studios, 908 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Austin, TX 78701, starting from 90 a.m. to 6 p.m. to drop off a fan to donate, or you can simply stop by to meet the AARP volunteers, play games, and make connections at our tent.
You can also enter Beat the Heat with AARP Texas for a chance to win a Dyson fan worth $500. Read the entire rules here. Sweepstakes runs from 8 a.m. CT, June 10, 2026 through Noon CT, July 24, 2026.
