Walktober returns for a second exciting year, showcasing the Providence’s walkability and celebrating walking through special events across the Capital City. Registration will open soon for an October 6 Providence Drum Troupe dance party and an October 8 walk audit training workshop. Through neighborhood walks and hands-on activities, participants will turn observation and fun into action, helping make Providence more pedestrian-friendly while exploring the city, meeting neighbors and strengthening community connections.
Join AARP Rhode Island throughout the evening at two Food Truck Friday in August and “Get the Scoop on Social Security." Play our Plinko game and learn how you can tell your elected officials how important Social Security is to you and your family. You will also receive a voucher for a free scoop of ice cream (while supplies last). See you there!

WRWC Riverside Park Free Community Paddles
Wednesdays, July 8 - August 19, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. These short 15–20 minute guided paddles are perfect for first-time paddlers, families, and anyone looking to build confidence on the water before joining longer river trips later in the season. Canoes, kayaks, paddles, and life jackets will be provided by WRWC. Learn more.
