Learn How to Protect Yourself from Scams and Cybercrime

Scammers are constantly finding new ways to target consumers, and older adults are often among the most vulnerable. From phishing emails and text messages to imposter scams and fraudulent financial schemes, cybercriminals are using increasingly sophisticated tactics to steal personal and financial information.

To help Pennsylvanians stay informed and protected, the Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, is hosting a free virtual workshop – Protecting Seniors Online: Think Before You Click - focused on cybercrime prevention and fraud awareness on Wednesday, September 9, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Designed for older adults, caregivers, family members, and anyone who supports older Pennsylvanians, this informative session will offer practical guidance on recognizing online threats, protecting sensitive information, and responding if you or a loved one becomes the victim of a scam.

Participants will hear from a distinguished panel of experts, including:

• Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday
• David Shallcross of the Attorney General's Senior Protection Unit
• Mary Bach, Consumer Issues Task Force Chair for AARP Pennsylvania
• Rick Cimakasky, Pennsylvania Bankers Association representative, Vice President and Bank Fraud & Security Officer at Penn Community Bank, and former FBI Special Agent
• Representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police
